Open the box and find your codes.
Inside the lid is a card with a registration code (a string of numbers), a pin, and a QR code. Keep it — it's the only thing that ties the device to your account.

Install the app and make an account.
Free on iOS, Android and the web — same account across all three. One account holds as many devices as you own, with unlimited users sharing them.

Add the device.
Tap Add device and scan the QR code on the box, or type the registration code (numbers only) and pin. Give it a name and pick a vehicle icon. That's the whole activation — there's no carrier to call and no SIM to buy.

Find the OBD-II port and push it in.
Driver's side, under the steering column, usually within arm's reach of your knee. The connector only fits one way — press until it seats. Nothing to splice, screw down or charge, and because it runs on vehicle power it reports as often as every 30 seconds.
Can't find it?Check behind a small pull-off panel below the dash, above the pedals, or beside the fuse box. Trucks and vans sometimes put it inside the center console.

Start the engine and watch it land.
As soon as it has power the blue and orange lights come on. They sit solid while the unit searches, then settle into a steady blink once each side connects — blue is cellular, orange is GPS. A light still solid after a couple of minutes means that side is having trouble connecting.

Turn on the alerts you actually want.
Settings takes two minutes and it's the part people skip. Draw a geofence around home and work, set a speed threshold, and switch on movement alerts so the phone buzzes before the vehicle is out of the neighborhood.

If something's off
Unplug, check the port for debris, and reseat firmly. If the port is dead, check the cigarette-lighter fuse — many vehicles share it with the OBD port.
A solid blue light means it can't reach the network. Park somewhere with open sky and cycle the ignition — first connection in an underground garage can take several minutes.
Just unplug it and plug it into the next one. The device isn't locked to a vehicle — swap it as often as you like.
A right-angle OBD extension cable tucks the unit up behind the dash trim, out of your knee's path. We don't sell them — any standard OBD-II extension from Amazon will do the job.
Disconnect the battery first.
Pull the negative terminal before you touch anything. The unit runs on anything from 9V to 90V DC — 12V cars, 24V trucks, 48V and 72V carts and equipment all work. Fit the included 2A fuse on the red wire, as close to the power source as you can get it. If you'd rather not do this yourself, any 12V audio shop will install it in under an hour.

Claim it in the app before you install.
Scan the QR code or enter the registration code and pin while the unit is still on the bench. Confirm it comes online — much easier to sort out now than after it's buried behind a dash panel.

Pick the hiding spot.
The HW-200 needs no line of sight to the sky through metal — behind the dash, under the seat, or inside a kick panel all work. Avoid the engine bay, anywhere that gets wet, and direct contact with a large metal shield above the unit.

Land the four wires.
Two are required, one is optional, one does nothing at all. Full-size diagram and printable version in the wiring guide.

Reconnect and test before you close anything up.
Put the negative terminal back on and turn the key. The blue and orange lights should come on straight away — that's your proof the power and ground are good. Check the app for position and voltage; both lights should be blinking within a minute or two.
Wired the orange wire?ACC detection is off by default. Turn it on in the app — Device settings → ACC / ignition detection — then check that the status flips to On with the key and Off without it. Without that switch flipped, the wire does nothing.

The unit carries an internal backup battery, so it keeps reporting for a while if the 12V feed is ever cut. Expect the red light to be on for the first stretch after install while that battery tops up.

Tidy the loom, then set your alerts.
Sleeve the run, tape it to the factory harness so it looks stock, and reinstall the trim. Then spend two minutes in the app: geofence home and work, set a speed limit, and turn on movement alerts for when the vehicle is parked.

If something's off
Check the 2A fuse first, then the ground. A ground onto painted metal is the single most common failure on a hardwire install.
The orange wire is landed on a constant source rather than an ACC one, so it sees power all the time and stays On. Probe the wire with the key out — it should read 0V.
ACC detection is off by default. Switch it on in the app under device settings, even after the orange wire is landed.
On a 12V vehicle, under 12.2V parked usually means a tired battery, not the tracker — the unit draws only milliamps asleep. There's no low-voltage alert on this model, so check it in the app when you're curious.
Move the unit out from under large metal panels and away from amplifiers or dashcam power packs.
Charge it fully before you hide it.
The red light stays on while it charges and turns off when it's full — no light means done, not dead. Runtime after that depends on the model and on how often you ask it to report.

Charge, then claim it in the app.
Plug in the supplied cable. The red charge light turns off once the battery is full. While it charges, scan the QR code on the box or enter the registration code and pin, and confirm the unit reports its position from your desk.

Know how long your model runs.
Battery life depends on the device. These are the figures at the default 180-second reporting interval with the vehicle driven 2–3 hours a day. Battery units report as often as every 60 seconds — set it that fast and every number below drops sharply.

Place the magnet.
Clean the steel first — the magnet holds hard, but not through caked road grime. Mount with the label facing up toward the sky; the antenna is on that side and a few degrees of tilt matters more than the exact spot.
Good spots- Inside a rear bumper cavity
- Frame rail behind a wheel well
- Under a plastic bed liner or trunk floor
- Trailer tongue box or spare-tire well
Avoid- Engine bay and anything near the exhaust
- Face-down under a thick steel plate
- Where road spray or a pressure washer hits it
- Loose in a glovebox — it needs to stay put

Close the rubber cover over the switch and port.
On the HD-10000 and HD-20000, water resistance comes entirely from the rubber cover over the on/off switch and charge port. Press it down until it's seated flat all the way round — left open, water gets straight in. Even sealed, it's rated for weather and road spray, not submersion, so don't mount it where it will sit in standing water.

Drive it once and confirm the track.
Take a short loop, then open the app — your current location shows up on the map. If it's slow to appear or the position looks off, the unit is shadowed by metal and wants to move a few inches.

Turn on the low-battery alert.
This is the one alert a battery unit can't do without — it's what stops the tracker going quiet the week you need it. Set it at 20% so there's plenty of margin to get the vehicle back and put it on the charger.

If something's off
Almost always the reporting interval. The published runtimes assume 180 seconds — at the fastest setting of 60 seconds the same unit lasts a fraction of that.
That's motion-wake doing its job — the unit sleeps when parked and reports again as soon as it moves.
Orange sitting solid means no fix. The unit is shadowed by metal — move it so the label faces the sky with plastic, not steel, above it.
The red light should come on the moment it's plugged in — if it doesn't, try a different cable and a wall adapter rather than a laptop port, then contact support.
