Privacy Policy
Summary
Moto Watchdog makes GPS trackers you own outright, with no monthly fees. Location data shows where your vehicle and family are, and we treat it that way. This policy covers what we collect, why we collect it and who can see it.
What we collect
- Order and account details: name, email, phone, shipping and billing address, and order history.
- Payment details: processed securely by Stripe and encrypted end to end. We never see or store your card number.
- Device data: GPS location, speed, battery level and signal status reported by your tracker.
- App and website usage: device type, browser, IP address and pages visited, used to keep the site and app working and secure.
- Messages you send us: support emails, chats and reviews.
How we use it
- Fulfil and ship your order, and handle returns and warranty claims.
- Show your tracker's location, history and alerts in the app.
- Provide customer support.
- Send order and service updates. We only send marketing emails if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Prevent fraud and keep our systems secure.
We never sell or share your data
- We do not sell your personal information or location data.
- We do not share it with advertisers or ad networks.
- We do not share it with insurance companies.
- We do not share it with data brokers or any other third party for their own use.
This applies to every customer, everywhere, with no opt-out form required.
Service providers
A small number of providers process data on our behalf only to run the service: our e-commerce platform (Shopify), Stripe for payments, shipping carriers, cellular network partners that carry tracker data, and cloud hosting. They are contractually bound to use your data only to provide that service and may not use it for their own purposes.
Apps and integrations
Third-party apps listed under Apps & Integrations in the Moto Watchdog app cannot access any of your data unless you explicitly grant them permission.
- Every connection asks for your approval and shows what data the app will receive.
- Nothing is connected by default.
- You can revoke access at any time from Apps & Integrations, and sharing stops immediately.
Once you grant access, that app's own privacy policy governs how it uses the data you share with it.
Location data and retention
Location history is visible only to you and anyone you choose to share your account or device with. We keep order records as long as required for tax and warranty purposes. You can delete location history in the app, or delete your account entirely, at any time.
Legal requests
We disclose data only when required by a valid legal process such as a subpoena or court order.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to access, correct, download or delete your personal data. Residents of California, the EU, the UK and other regions with privacy laws have these rights by law, and we extend them to all customers. Email us to make a request. We'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.
Data removal: email us from the address on your account to request deletion. All of your personal data, including location history, is permanently cleared within 30 days. We keep only records we're legally required to retain, such as order invoices for tax purposes.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access within our team is limited to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we'll notify you promptly if a breach affects your data.
Children
Our store is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll email account holders and update the date at the top of this page before it takes effect. We will never change this policy to allow selling your data.
